Krause, Alvina

   The revered acting teacher was born in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. After earning her B.S. and M.A. in speech at Northwestern University, she was invited to join the faculty there. She developed a three-year program of actor training. In 1945, she and Lucy McCammon founded a summer stock playhouse at Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania, and presented nearly 200 productions during its twenty seasons. After her 1963 retirement, she conducted workshops and lectured at various universities.
